Trump’s Parade Was Just As Dumb As Promised

As promised, I attended Trump’s fascist birthday bash this weekend. Yes, it was just as stupid as you would expect. So here’s a round up of footage from the day — from myself and others who were on the ground.

Despite MAGAs claiming for weeks that the parade was nothing more than a celebration of the Army’s 250th birthday, the ones who attended were dressed to impress their orange god-king.

Others were more candid with their reason for attending. Here’s an interview I had with a Vietnamese immigrant from California who attends Trump rallies across the country:

Yikes.

I want to note the sparse crowds. The above video was filmed at the front of the line to enter the parade. As you can see behind us, maybe 2-3 dozen folks were lined up.

Meanwhile at the 7th street security checkpoint, a pardoned J6er had mounted a massive “January 6th was an inside job” flag. He was eager to chat:

But what surprised me most were the number of folks who came out to protest. Leading up to the 14th, organizers had tried to encourage people to avoid D.C. and attend No Kings rallies elsewhere. But protesters came anyway. Folks carried anti-Trump signs both inside and outside of the barricaded festival grounds. Some wore anti-Trump shirts. I encountered a man in a red hat with white text reading, “NOT GREAT.” Despite Trump’s promise to meet protesters with “very big force,” these demonstrators were largely left alone — albeit heckled plenty by the MAGAs in attendance.

And that’s what gives me hope. Over 5 million people attended No Kings protests across the country in direct opposition to the shit show in D.C. People are keeping the pressure up, with more joining opposition efforts every day. We still have a long way to go — but folks are building community and fighting back.
